With one look at his season statistics, you might say that Saints running back Darren Sproles has been a forgotten player this year. But he's been forgotten more than usual lately. In two games since returning from a sprained ankle, Sproles has played less than 20 snaps each week. He played 19 snaps in Week 13 versus the Seahawks and then 15 snaps on Sunday night against the Panthers. In those two games combined, Sproles touched the ball 14 times for 104 total yards.
Those two tough matchups aside, the lack of field time is alarming. Unfortunately, it fits perfectly into what has been a disappointing season for the diminutive dual threat. He's splitting carries with Pierre Thomas , Mark Ingram , and even Khiry Robinson was active in Week 14. Sproles, even with a favorable matchup this weekend against the Rams, is just a mediocre flex in PPR leagues.
