No MRI needed for Ravens QB Joe Flacco

No MRI needed for Ravens QB Joe Flacco

League sources have reported to ESPN's Ed Werder that QB Joe Flacco @TeamFlacco will not undergo an MRI on his knee, despite taking a nasty hit from Detroit linebacker, DeAndre Levy, in the 4th quarter of the Lions-Ravens Monday night tilt. Flacco was noticeably uncomfortable after the hit that twisted his left knee, but didn't miss any plays and led the Ravens final drive to set up kicker Justin Tucker's go-ahead, 61 yard field goal with under a minute to play.

Ravens coach, John Harbaugh, praised Flacco's toughness when asked about his quarterback. "He fought through that", Harbaugh said. "Joe Flacco is one tough guy. He's a great player in crunch time."

Fantasy Analysis:

While he didn't have a huge fantasy game, Flacco showed great leadership and kept his cool when it counted to put his team in a position to win. Knowing that Flacco isn't going to have an MRI is an excellent sign that he should be good to go in the Ravens week 16 game vs. New England.

If you drafted someone like Robert Griffin III or lost Aaron Rodgers to injury, you may have had to settle on Flacco. If that's the hand you've been dealt, the bright side of this (despite us having him ranked at #19 this week) is that he's healthy and has an attractive matchup in week 16, as the Patriots give up the 4th most fantasy points to QB's in the past five weeks. Due to the matchup, Flacco is an especially nice play in weekly salary cap leagues, as his price tag is going to be in the bottom half of the quarterback pool.
