While his team prepares for the Dolphins, Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson will be in California for most of the week mourning with family over the death of his mother, who passed away suddenly on Saturday. Head coach Doug Marrone said Monday that he "wouldn't hesitate" to tell Johnson not to play this weekend if he felt emotionally torn between grieving with family and missing a game, because family takes priority.
"God or my faith is No. 1, and my family is No. 2," Marrone said. "Football is No. 3."
Johnson actually played last Sunday against Jacksonville, one day following his mother's passing. He caught one pass for four yards on three targets. Johnson told Marrone when he heard the tragic news on Sunday, but Johnson didn't tell his teammates about his situation until after the game.
My thoughts are with Johnson and his family. We'll let you know if Johnson will play this weekend when his decision is made public.
