WR Anquan Boldin signs a two year extension with the 49ers

Jim Harbaugh said re-signing Boldin was a top priority this off season, and he meant it. The 49ers re-signed Boldin to a two year, 12 million dollar extension on Monday, with nine million guaranteed. Boldin wanted to be the first to break the news of his return, and did so via Twitter, "@49ers fans, I wanted to be the first to tell you I'm returning to San Francisco."

Fantasy Analysis:

Statistically Boldin had a great 2013 campaign with an 85-1179-7 line for the regular season. Of all the impending free agents at wide receiver, only Eric Decker had better numbers.

However, if you owned Boldin last year you might be less impressed than the Niners were. Here's why: Boldin had fewer weeks with 15 plus fantasy points (4), than he did games with fewer than six fantasy points (6). Furthermore, if you had him on your bench during his week one, 208 yard outburst, you would have been futilely chasing those points for weeks. Boldin has the ability to win a week for you, but which one?

He is simply too inconsistent to play as a week to week starter on your team. If he is available as a WR3/4 feel free to grab him, otherwise let someone who isn't looking deep into his numbers take him too early.
