Jaguars want to use Denard Robinson more at RB

Is Denard Robinson @DenardX, at barely 6 feet tall and less than 200 pounds, really built to be a traditional running back in the NFL? Others have had success at that size -- Jamaal Charles immediately comes to mind -- but players who are that slight of build usually don't last long at that position. However, the Jaguars want to see if Robinson can handle the job and be more than a gimmick player.
Robinson was barely anything as a rookie in 2013 as he carried the ball 20 times for 66 yards in 16 games. He played a total of 52 snaps. But head coach Gus Bradley said this past weekend that "I don't think [Robinson] is a gimmick guy. He can maybe run outside zone and get to the point where he runs north. But how can you tell off 10 runs?"
Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union wrote that Robinson will be "given ample opportunities to prove he can be an NFL running back" during the preseason.

Fantasy Analysis:

Don't go thinking that Robinson is the replacement for Maurice Jones-Drew @Jones_Drew32. At the very least, the Jaguars are doing themselves and Robinson a disservice if they can't find more ways to get his 4.3 speed into the offense. I still don't expect Robinson to be more than sparsely used offensive weapon, but we'll see what happens this preseason. He is a big-play threat.
