Troubled WR Davone Bess cut by the Browns

Just one year after landing in Cleveland via a trade with the Dolphins, Devone Bess has been cut by the Browns. Bess still had two years left on his three year deal and will now enter the free agent pool.

Fantasy Analysis:

Looks like one year is the magic number for job security in Cleveland.

The Browns actually had good reasons to cut Bess, who has been dealing with myriad off-field issues of late. Bess has been arrested multiple times and was briefly hospitalized against his will. Some of these incidents actually happened before the trade to Cleveland, and it's unlikely the Browns were aware of Bess' problems before signing him to an extension. Most recently, Bess was arrested for allegedly assaulting an officer at the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood Fla. airport.

Bess caught 42 passes for 382 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games this season. Before playing for any team this upcoming season, he will likely face league dicipline.

We hope that before thinking of a return to football, Bess can get himself some help and get healthy.
