We've been tracking 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore 's long road back from his latest devestating knee injury. Most recently, Lattimore said in February that he was close to 100 percent. A couple of months later, Lattimore is way past being "close."
"If I prove it in practice, I don't think there's no excuse why I can't play," Lattimore told GoGamecocks.com. "I'm ready."
The South Carolina product is only 22 years old.
Lattimore has a tremendous amount of dynasty value as Frank Gore is now into his 30s, and Kendall Hunter isn't nearly as physically talented as Lattimore. For 2014, he'll look to gain playing time as a backup to Gore. But he will have to surpass Hunter on the depth chart first. A trade of LaMichael James would help, too. Lattimore's fantasy value for this year may never be more than as a last-option handcuff. But, man, his future could be really bright.
