As expected, the Raiders unloaded quarterback Terrelle Pryor on Monday. Less expected is that they actually got something in return for a player they were going to get rid of soon anyway.
Pro Football Talk first reported that the Raiders have traded the athletic QB to the Seahawks. PFT adds that the 49ers were also very interested in dealing for Pryor, but Seattle won out. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Raiders received a seventh-round pick in the deal.
Kudos to Oakland's brass for gaining an extra pick. The Raiders were reportedly going to cast off Pryor by the end of today if they couldn't make a deal. I assume Pryor will enter into a camp competition with Tarvaris Jackson to be Russell Wilson 's direct backup. Pryor should win that battle on his play-making ability alone. Neither player is a great passer; what Pryor can do with his legs is going to make the difference. Still, he won't have any fantasy value without an injury to Wilson. Although, I expect Pete Carroll to use Pryor sparingly in games for gadget plays.
