Lions tight end Joseph Fauria said a few months ago that he could produce Jimmy Graham-like numbers.
Yeah, good luck with that.
The Lions used the No. 10 pick in Thursday's NFL Draft on North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron.
Ebron is clearly the best tight end in this draft. He is 6-foot-4, 250 pounds. He can run routes well and is a proficient catcher to go along with standout athleticism. It gives Matthew Stafford another solid weapon to go with Megatron, Golden Tate . Fauria will continue to get a few touchdowns here and there, but this pretty much caps his value as a touchdown-only player. Ebron may not do much this season as Fauria is around, and the Lions just signed Pettigrew to a four-year deal, but he definitely has TE1 upside in the future. I like this pick if for no other reason that it should lead to a decrease in Brandon Pettigrew's playing time. It became painful to watch him the past couple of years. The Lions can definitely use an athletic tight end, and Ebron can be a matchup nightmare.
