Darren Sproles is no longer on the Saints, and Marques Colston 's knees might give out at moment. So, the Saints traded up to the 20th pick to get a quick, big-play wide receiver. That man is Oregon St. wide receiver Brandin Cooks. The Saints, who were originally slated to pick 27th, made a trade with the Cardinals to move up. They traded that No. 27 pick and a third-rounder in this draft.
This is one of my favorite picks of the draft so far. You may not care about combine results, but I thought Cooks was the best wideout at the combine. He cuts on a dime and has 4.33-speed. He can handle the ball in many ways, and he has steady hands. He's under 200 pounds and only 5-foot-10, but he is going to be a very productive player in that offense with Drew Brees throwing him the ball. As with all rookies, it may not come right away, but I think Cooks is going to be a star in this league. Once Colston really starts to show his age, Cooks may be Brees' best receiver.
