The news leading up to now suggested and implied a lot of optimism regarding New York Giants running back David Wilson 's potential to return as soon as possible. That turns out to not be the case following an MRI on Wednesday. Wilson was not cleared for contact. The third year RB he continues to recover from neck surgery and is expected to be cleared by training camp later this summer. New York has RBs Rashad Jennings and Peyton Hillis atop the depth chart.
Wilson's career has produced more negative headliens than positive. We here at FFToolbox labeled him a potential breakout start last year and that obviously did not pan out. Wilson has potential, like most young players in the game; however, his fumbling issues and persistent injuries have derailed his brief career. Wilson is worth a late-round flier once he is cleared for contact. Expectations should be very low as he will, at best, split the lesser share of a split backfield with Jennings.
