The Dolphins began their third week of organized team activities on Monday, and their first-team running back for the third week in a row was Lamar Miller . That Miller is playing with the starters ahead of Knowshon Moreno got a lot of buzz last week. Moreno has been working with the second team as he continues to work on his conditioning. ESPN's James Walker wrote Monday that Miller has made more plays of the two, and head coach Joe Philbin senses that a big year could be coming from the younger back.
""He's had a very good camp," Philbin said of Miller. "...This is the time as a third-year player that you're ready to make a big contribution."
It's still very early in this battle. Miller has claimed Round One, basically by default due to Moreno reporting out of shape. This should go deep into training camp. I'd rather own Miller because he is faster and a better big-play weapon. Also, these two had very different 2013 seasons, which could lead to Moreno being overvalued and Miller being undervalued in drafts. But again, it's impossible to tell at the moment who will be the leader of this backfield. Check back in a couple of months.
