Well, it seems Alshon Jeffry isn't the only Bears player optomistic about the team's offense in 2014. As reported yesterday, Alshon Jeffry believes he and running mate Brandon Marshall are the best two receivers in the league. Saturday night, at the team's 19th annual Bears Care Gala, which raises money for breast and ovarian cancer research and treatment programs in Chicago, running back Matt Forte seconded that motion. "If we keep working hard we're going to take this offense, hopefully, to the top of the league," Forte said. "There's no ceiling. There's no limit that you can put on it."
It's scary to think about the Bears offense getting better. Forte finished with just under 2,000 total yards last season (1,339 rushing/594 receiving). The team had the 8th most productive offense in the league, despite a quarterback change mid-season due to starter Jay Cutler's groin injury.
First off, kudos to the Bears. The team has raised more than $11 million over the last 18 years, hosting this gala. As someone who lost his mother to breast cancer, I find this to be awesome.
As for fantasy footbal... I think the Bears are primed to be the second-coming of 'The Greatest Show on Turf'. Quarterback Jay Cutler has always had the physical tools to put up huge numbers. The Bears, for the most part, come back in 2014 with the same core group of skill players, which should only help Cutler to take the next step into being an elite fantasy QB in Head Coach Marc Trestman's offense. Wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffry combine to establish arguably the best tandem in the league, with both of them being drafted among the top 10 WR's in recent FFWC drafts hosted by fftoolbox.com. Running back Matt Forte is regularly one of the top 5 backs off the board inthe same drafts. These three players make the Bears the only NFL team with three players being taken in the first two rounds regularly. I see Cutler outplaying his current ADP as QB15 and cracking the top 10 at the position.
Draft all four of these guys with the utmost confidence. It's well within the realm of possibility that one of these guys could be the best at their respective position in fantasy football this year... even Cutler.
