The Ravens' No. 2 back went under the knife for a shoulder surgery back in January of this year. Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce is reported to be on schedule for a return to the team in time for training camp. The former Temple running back is expected to start a few games due to a likely suspension coming down for RB Ray Rice . A punishment for Rice is coming soon, as is Pierce's return to his team. Thanks to offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak's run-oriented playbook, Baltimore could return to their old power game.
This is a great opportunity for Pierce. After an excellent rookie campaign in 2012, many fantasy fans felt Pierce was due to possibly surpass Rice. Both backs faltered for different reasons; however the Raven's offensive line did a terrible job upfront. If Rice is suspended and Pierce is forced into a starting role, also keep an eye on rookie RB Lorenzo Taliaferro. The rookie out of Coastal Carolina is next in line after Rice and Pierce. He has deep sleeper potential.
