Much is expected from Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson this year. His own teammates know it, and one in particular wants to make sure he knows it, too.
Greg Jennings told ESPN.com's Ben Goessling last week that he talked to Patterson earlier in the offseason and said, "I wanted him to know that, coming in, the expectation of you is no longer 'rookie.' It's, 'You gotta go. We saw what you can do. We're gonna showcase this,'"
Patterson was lightly used on offense last year until the final month of the season when he accumulated 375 yards and six touchdowns in the final five games.
"I'm going to be honest: Once I saw him make a couple plays, I'm like, 'We've got to get him the ball. He does too much well for us not to get him the ball,'" Jennings said of Patterson.
There are few players -- maybe none at all -- with more hype heading into fantasy draft season than Patterson. Despite his ultimately low rookie-year totals, he is currently a third- or fourth-round fantasy pick. His athleticism in the open field is simply special, and the Vikings want utilize him as a receiver and a runner. I can't wait to see what Norv Turner cooks up for Patterson. He is a solid WR2 with definite WR1 upside.
