That's a statement that comes from the Twitter feed of NFL.com's Gil Brandt. The tweet from Monday reads, "[Cardinals] 3rd-round pick WR John Brown will work out w/ Carson Palmer in SD. Cards think he'll be a special player. Very high on him."
I know I look like a jerk if I gibe anything the Godfather of the NFL Draft says, but don't most teams think their third-round picks can be "special" at this early point in their careers? This doesn't really tell us anything that a bunch of other coaches would say about their own rookies.
But that doesn't mean Brown should be discarded for fantasy purposes. Brown really opened eyes during rookie minicamp and has drawn comparisons to T.Y. Hilton, a former player under Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians. Brown will ostensibly compete for the team's No. 3 WR job against fellow speedster Ted Ginn Jr. Brown will most likely be very inconsistent as a rookie, but his speed will play, and a team source said that Brown has better hands and route-running ability than the Cardinals initially thought. He's definitely a guy to target in rookie drafts.
