Browns HC Mike Pettine says in the AFC North, a running back committee is a must

Everybody knows that the Browns are going to run often this season. But whom are they going to run with?
It will be a group effort. That's what head coach Mike Pettine thinks is required in his division.
"I think in the AFC North, you have to be running back by committee," Pettine said recently. "You'd like to have a guy that can carry most of the load, but also be able to alternate guys ...."
The Browns have six running backs on their roster, but Ben Tate @BenTateRB and Terrance West are definitely the top two. Pettine likes what he has seen from both in practices thus far.
"They have a good feel for the zone (blocking) scheme and are able to put their foot in the ground and get north and south," Pettine said. "It's encouraging when you get the feeling you're going to have runners that are going to get yardage after contact and are very rarely going to get knocked back."

Fantasy Analysis:

Tate and West are going to vie for the starting job in training camp. Barring injury, I think Tate will be the opening-day starter, but West has received many good reviews in the spring. Pettine said West, a third-round rookie, has "dancer-type feet, but it's in a 230-pound man."
Whoever wins the gig is going to be in good hands with Kyle Shanahan dialing up the plays. He has shown the ability to get the best out of his starting RB. Tate is currently being drafted on average as a low-end RB2 while West has moved up into flex territory in 12-team leagues.
