Jets running back Chris Johnson has changed his tune from April when he said he wasn't really concerned about sharing carries with another back. On Tuesday, Johnson sounded like a player who doesn't think he will be in any sort of timeshare this season.
"Once the season starts and once we're playing and I'm doing my thing, I'm pretty sure if I'm making plays they're going to want to keep handing the ball off to me," Johnson said on NFL Network. "If they want me to continue making plays, I'm pretty sure I can't do that if I'm on the sideline."
And I'm sure we will hear from a disgruntled CJ?K during the season when he thinks he is being used too lightly. But the Jets have been steadfast with how they will proceed with their backfield; Chris Ivory is going to see a lot of early down work, and the Jets are going to be "strategic" in how they use Johnson. Bilal Powell should also be involved in some capacity. Now, if Ivory gets injury, we could see CJ become a workhorse again. But for now, yes, he is definitely in a timeshare. Fantasy owners need to hope that any dissatisfaction Johnson has with that fact doesn't bleed into his on-field performance. I think he is a low-end RB2.
