Beat writer Kevin Bowen of Colts.com is reporting that tight ends coach Alfredo Roberts saying that getting Dwayne Allen back after a hip injury makes him feel like he's getting "a brand new player." Allen suffered a hip injury last season causing him to miss the entire season. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton's play-calling style generally features creative two-TE formations and will use Allen and TE Coby Fleener .
Allen figures to make a big splash this season as the Colts No. 1 TE. Fleener hasn't shown much of anything over the last two seasons, while last season's injury halted Allen's clear ascent to the top spot on the depth chart. Fleener is a bust this year, while Allen is the tight end to own without question.
