The former Clemson quarterback is having some difficulties with transitioning from college to the NFL. Boyd acknowledged this by saying, "It takes time. I've got to understand that, to be patient a little bit. But I'm doing everything I can so that I'm ready and I'm confident when I go on the field." He will battle with Matt Simms during training camp for third-string duties behind Michael Vick and Geno Smith.
Rookie QBs typically struggle during the transition to the pros. While at Clemson, Boyd was never a game-changer. He should be able to beat out Sims, Boyd is well off the radar for dynasty and redraft leagues. Smith is clearly the future QB of the Jets' franchise.
