Ravens RB Bernard Pierce cleared for camp

Pierce has been cleared to participate fully in training camp, according to Ravens reporter Aaron Wilson. Pierce underwent rotator cuff surgery this offseason, but his recovery apparently will not be an issue going forward. Entering his third year with the Ravens, Pierce is stil behind RB Ray Rice @RayRice27 on the depth chart. In 2013, Pierce carried the ball 152 times for 436 yards, averaging 2.9 yards per carry.

Fantasy Analysis:

In fairness to Pierce, it was a down year for the whole Ravens offense, and the running game in particular. He's shown flashes of really smart, decisive running, particularly during the 2012 season when he averaged 4.9 yards per carry. A lot of his value will be determined by factors outside his control, namely Ray Rice's health and effectiveness. However, don't write Pierce off as a valuable handcuff just becuse he experienced a sophomore slump. The best is yet to come from this unheralded running back.
