Giants GM Jerry Reese is worried about his rookie WR's continuing hamstring problems. "He missed part of spring ball with a hamstring and then he tweaked it yesterday. Obviously there is a concern," Reese said, referencing Beckham's absence at OTA's due to the injury. The Giants first-round pick participated in stretching and warmups on Wednesday, but did not take part in organized drills.
This is a disappointing developent for the Giants, who were hoping to see their highly touted rookie wideout on the field during camp, learning the team's new offense. Rookie WRs traditionally struggle in the NFL, as they adjust to new coverage schemes and more complicated offensive game-planning. Accordingly, any time Beckham misses as a result of the hamstring injury will hamper his ability to assimilate into the Giants offense, which could affect his playing time during the year. Beckham is currently ranked 78th among WRs by FFToolbox.com.
