With Colts running back Vick Ballard out for the season and the recent release of Chris Rainey , their backfield was looking sparse. They immediately went out looking for talent to fill their recently created voids. Adam Schefter has reported that the Colts signed former Cowboys running back, Phillip Tanner .
Tanner most likely won't see much action, but at least he's there. He's someone to fall back on if anything else happens through camp or during the season. He was released by the Cowboys because they could not afford to pay him and he has shown below-average running ability. Since this is strictly a depth signing, Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw should have nothing to worry about.
