Ellington sat out Tuesday's practice with a neck injury, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. Little is known about the injury, but it does not appear to be serious. Cardinals RB Stepfan Taylor took reps with the offensive starters in Ellington's absence. Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has previously spoken about making Ellington a focal point of Arizona's offense, but due to durability concerns, Arizona took a conservative approach with Ellington in the 2013 season.
While the injury does not seem to be a major concern, this type of news will make fantasy owners nervous. Ellington, at barely 200 pounds, does not have the physical stature characteristic of a workhorse running back in the NFL. Fantasy owners are drafting Ellington as a high-end RB2, because of his explosiveness and big-play ability. Those same owners should take note that Taylor has an edge on Cardinals RB Jonathan Dwyer for backup duties. Ellington is a good choice for handcuffing this year, due to injury concerns.
