Lions TE Eric Ebron dropping 'an inordinate number' of passes

The Lions were looking for someone to stretch the field and take pressure off Calvin Johnson. They believe they found their guy in Eric Ebron @Ebron85. The 10th overall pick in the 2014 draft has been struggling in training camp though. Reported by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Ebron has been dropping 'an inordinate number' of passes. Lions' coach Jim Caldwell backed-up Ebron saying, "It's tough for any young guy that's coming in to a system." As a junior last year, Ebron had a drop-rate of 11.4%.

Fantasy Analysis:

If you're looking for a really good pickup for a dynasty league, Ebron may be your guy. However, in redraft leagues, I would avoid Ebron. He has a lot on his shoulders and many people are expecting too much of him. As a rookie, you're still learning the offense, adjusting to the speed of the game and competing against greater talent. Drop-rate aside, rookie tight ends rarely break out into fantasy football capable players. Although Ebron has potential, there are better options at tight end around his ADP.
