NJ.com is reporting that Giants rookie WR Odell Beckham has been running, and catching passes off the JUGS machine during practice. "Sounds like he's getting close," said coach head coach Tom Coughlin. Beckham was selected in the first round at pick No. 12 of the NFL Draft but has been sidelined since the first day of training camp with a hamstring injury. Once he's fully healthy, he'll be fighting WR Rueben Randle for WR2 duties opposite Victor Cruz.
At this point, Randle has a leg up on the WR2 position. However, he started the first preseason game versus the Bills and wasn't targeted once. If Beckham can get healthy, he could give Randle some competition for the spot. As the Giants move to a more three-wide receiver scheme under OC Ben McAdoo, each will have their moment to prove themselves.
