49ers RB Carlos Hyde carries five times for 39 yards in preseason opener

Carlos Hyde looked impressive in the first NFL action of his career, taking five carries for 39 yards in the 49ers preseason loss to the Ravens. With veteran 49ers RB Frank Gore sitting the game out, Hyde capitalized on his chance to play with the offensive starters. His attempts included a 19-yarder burst that showcased Hyde's decisiveness as a runner.

Fantasy Analysis:

The former OSU Buckeye made a very strong case for himself tonight. If Frank Gore goes down to injury or, more likely, struggles to be an effective runner over the second half of the season, Hyde could emerge as one of the impact rookies in 2014. But you may not be able to land him on your roster cheaply. Hyde is fully valued as the 36th running back off the board in fantasy drafts.
