C.J. Anderson suffered a concussion in the Broncos preseason opener versus the Seahawks Thursday night. SI.com reports that Anderson took a hit to the helmet from Seahawks LB Brock Coyle, and was forced to leave the game. Because of the NFL concussion protocol, he'll be forced to miss at least some practice time following the injury. Anderson is currently listed third on the Broncos RB depth chart.
This isn't good news for Anderson, who was already slipping behind RB Ronnie Hillman in the pecking order. Each day he misses in practice is an opportunity for Hillman to solidify his hold on the number two job, backing up Broncos RB Montee Ball. Anderson was thought by some analysts to be a better option than Hillman heading into this season, but based on practice reps and the team's depth chart, the Broncos disagree. Anderson is ranked as the 87th RB by FFtoolbox.com, and should not be drafted except in the very deepest of leagues.
