Sims sustained a right ankle injury during Tuesday's practice, according to the Tampy Bay Times' beat reporter Greg Auman via Twitter. Auman posted a photo of Sims walking in a boot, but without crutches, at the Bucs facility. The Buccaneers drafted Sims with a third-round pick in this year's draft, and he's expected to see immediate work alongside RBs Doug Martin , Mike James and Bobby Rainey .
Obviously the injury is bad news, but it's encouraging that Sims is able to walk under his own power without the use of crutches. Ankle sprains are notoriously fickle - some sprains of the high-ankle variety can linger for weeks. This doesn't appear to be a major health problem for Sims, however. The bigger concern is his lost time in camp. Sims is a rookie, and needs reps to assimilate into the offense. He will be fighting for touches in a very crowded backfield, and should not be drafted except with a late-round flyer pick.
