Broncos running back Montee Ball returned to non-contact practice on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Jeff Legwold via Twitter. Ball underwent an appendectomy on August 4. It will likely be a few days or a week before Ball takes any contact, and he will not play in the Broncos' third preseason game.
Even though it will be a few more days before he returns to normal contact work, it's good news that Ball is back on the field a mere two weeks after his surgery. Ball reportedly lost five pounds during his recovery, and his speed and quickness may benefit from that drop. Don't worry too much about his recovery from this routine operation -- he has the Broncos' RB1 job locked down and is worth the late-second-round pick he's garnering in fantasy drafts.
