The Cardinals have activated DB Tyrann Mathieu from the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to Kent Somers via Twitter. Mathieu is coming off of an ACL/LCL tear suffered late in the 2013 season. By removing him from the PUP list, the Cardinals avoided having to keep Mathieu sidelined for the first six weeks of the season. However, Mathieu is still considered questionable to play Week 1.
This is good news for a Cardinals defense that's reeling from the loss of DE Darnell Dockett . Mathieu is one of the better developing coverage talents in the NFL, and the Cardinals' defense looks far less fearsome without him on the field. Owners playing in IDP leagues will will want to keep a close eye on Mathieu's recovery. He's ranked as the 12th overall DB by FFToolbox. Still, until a firm timetable for his return is made available, owners should be careful about spending a pick on the Arizona safety.
