Redskins TE Jordan Reed has sprained thumb

The Washington Redskins have revealed TE Jordan Reed has a sprained thumb but "should be OK for regular-season opener vs. Houston," according to the team's Twitter account. It is unclear when the injury happened, but it most likely occurred during Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens. The plan is for Reed and the rest of the starters to sit out Week 5 of preseason, so he'll have a few weeks to heal up.

Fantasy Analysis:

It's not much cause for concern, and it sounds like he'll be ready to go for the season. If he stays healthy, he'll have TE1 upside in a high-flying Washington offense. He is the fourth-best TE in our rankings.

Ryan,
Reed seems to have slipped a little bit because of RGIII's less than stellar pre season. Are you still standing by your 4th place ranking?

Good question. It's important to note that ranking is FFToolbox personal rankings, not my own. RG3 wasn't the concern as much as the O-line in my opinion. If we are talking my personal rankings, I would have Reed, Cameron and Rudolph as pretty close to equal with Reed and Rudolph having the highest upside. If that Redskin offense can get their legs under them, I would take Reed in a heartbeat.
