Redskins QB Robert Griffin's mechanics regressed in 'fundamental way'

ESPN's Ron Jaworski said says that Robert Griffin's mechanics have regressed in a "fundamental way." Jaworski, speaking on Colin Cowherd's radio show, said he believes that Griffin has gotten worse with "his throwing slot, his footwork, his inability to remain consistent." And Jaworski went on to say that he believes it's clear that Griffin needs to "learn to play from the pocket." Griffin has yet to play a full 16-game season in the NFL and was shut down by the Redskins after Week 14 of last year to preserve his health.

Fantasy Analysis:

Those are harsh words from Jaworski, who tends to know what he's talking about. Griffin has struggled in the preseason. He's gone 13-for-20 on throws, with no touchdowns and two interceptions. And he's averaging a very pedestrian 7.05 yards per attempt. If new Redskins head coach Jay Gruden decides to scale back RGIII's designed runs, as many analysts expect, Griffin's upside will be somewhat limited. His inability to throw accurately downfield combined with his high injury risk make Griffin a very uncertain fantasy option. He's going 14th among QBs in fantasy drafts.

The Redskin's did not draft RGIII for $100,000,000 to watch Jay Gruden turn him into Trent Dilfer. Any QB can dink and dunk and manage the game. Washington invested in a finely tuned Ferrari, and should run him hard and fast until the wheels fall off, otherwise why pay the high ticket price ? He just needs to learn to slide.
