Running back Mikel Leshoure was cut from the Lions' roster Saturday. Leshoure was the Lions' 2011 second-round pick, but he was stuck on the depth chart behind Reggie Bush and Joique Bell last year. Leshoure is just 24 years old and may be claimed by another team through waivers. Bush, Bell and Theo Riddick will make up the Lions' rushing attack in 2014.
This is good news for owners of Bush and Bell as Leshoure will not be around to vulture away any touchdowns or other work. Look for the Lions to use roughly a straight split between Bush and Bell, with Bush having an edge in the passing game and Bell in between-the-tackles running plays. Depending on where he lands, Leshoure could be an interesting waiver candidate down the road, but until he is on an active roster, he should not be owned in any fantasy leagues.
