Wide receiver Stephen Hill's size and speed couldn't overcome his penchant for injuries and dropping passes. On Saturday, the Jets released Hill, the 43rd overall pick from the 2012 draft.
Hill ended each of his first two seasons on injured reserve and didn't play more than 12 games in either year. His "best" season came in 2013 when he caught 24 passes for 342 yards and a touchdown. However, he has dropped nine of the 97 targets in his career and dropped two more during the preseason.
But Hill is just 23 years old. He is 6-foot-4 and ran a 4.36-40 at the 2012 combine. In other words, if his medicals check out, Hill will definitely find another place to play. Granted, he didn't have the best quarterback situation in New York, between Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Geno Smith . But that's not the prevailing reason why he was a bust for Gang Green. The Jets will move forward with Eric Decker , Jeremy Kerley and David Nelson as their top three WRs.
