Expert Picks for Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Jimmy Walker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #13 - Not Entered
The Walker bandwagon may be getting a little lighter as he continues to fall off the blistering pace he set early. We remain hopeful he can re-ignite that flame and turn 2011 into his groundbreaking season. To do so, he needs to be on point in Louisiana.
Charley Hoffman [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #74
In any other week at any other course we'd be listing Hoffman well before we reached the final five names on the list. However, his history at this particular set of links is cause for concern and we tend to take that news with a bit more concern than others.
Spencer Levin [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #169
Levin has become a regular stop for the bottom half of our rankings over recent weeks. Sometimes he makes the cut and other times he does not, but we note his play at the Heritage last week and consider he may be moving into a positive momentum swing.
David Toms [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #180
Toms is a crafty vet with a previous win at this event (earned on another track), and thus we are willing to risk a late spot in the rankings on his potential with a caveat: understand he doesn't play often, he's coming back from injury, and he's been anything but consistent over recent seasons.
Rory Sabbatini [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #163
Sabby has a win on the resume for 2011 and as such it is obvious he has the skill needed to take on this crowd of golfers. We warn his history on this track is not especially pleasing and we mention him just before we exit stage left. We like him, but we don't love him.
Pat Perez [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #200
The temptation to push Perez higher after a favorable outing at the Heritage last week is strong but we remain calm, and we reflect on his lack of history at the TPC Louisiana, and we mention him in passing. He's talented but inconsistent, especially on TPC links.
