Golf Rankings for Arnold Palmer Invitational
Tiger Woods [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #62
UPDATE: Tiger Woods just tweeted he's not playing Bay Hill due to back spasms There's no debate Woods has not had a successful tournament in 2014, yet. However, this is Bay Hill where Tiger has won eight times, including each of the last two years and four of the last six. Woods has been dealing with a back issue, so there are no assurances; however, this is among the very best tracks for Tiger, so he's worth the risk in most formats.
Bubba Watson [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #3
In his last three stroke play events, Watson has finished T2 at TPC Scottsdale, won at Riviera and added another T2 at Doral. Over the last three years at Bay Hill, Bubba has finished T14 and T4 after losing what could have been another top-five finish in the final round of 2011.
Justin Rose [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #8
Rose is coming off a T8 at Copperhead, a hopeful sign he has worked past his bout of shoulder tendinitis. If so, Rose is a large threat at Bay Hill. Over the last three years, he’s placed solo second, T15 (fifth after the first two rounds) and T3.
Adam Scott [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #5
Scott hasn’t played Bay Hill since missing the cut back in 2009. He opened the year with three straight finishes of 12th or better before a T25 at Doral. There’s not much course history to go on, but Scott is as solid as they come these days.
Graeme McDowell [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #20
After strong runs at Pebble Beach and the Match Play Championship, McDowell was a disappointment at the Honda Classic. However, he quickly rebounded at Doral with a T9. G-McD has played Bay Hill each of the last five years, but was only successful during his runner-up performance from 2012.
Henrik Stenson [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #2
Stenson made history last year, but struggled throughout 2014 until his recent T16 at Doral. Last year’s FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai champion has played Bay Hill the last four years, placing T8 and T15 the last two years.
Hunter Mahan [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #26
Mahan has only managed one top-15 finish in 10 career starts at Bay Hill with a number of near misses. Last year, he sat T14 after three rounds. Back in 2011, Mahan was T4 after two rounds and T6 after two rounds in 2009. However, Mahan has scored three top-10s this year in five stroke play events.
Patrick Reed [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #15
Since winning the Humana Challenge, Reed has finished inside the top 25 in four straight stroke play starts, most recently winning again at Doral. Reed is playing Bay Hill for just the second time after missing last year’s cut.
Kevin Na [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #28
In between missing the cut at Riviera, Na finished T4 at Pebble Beach and was the runner-up last week at Copperhead. He did not play Bay Hill last year, but since 2009, Na placed inside the top-five in two of his last three starts (11th or better three of the last four).
Zach Johnson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #21
Johnson has played Bay Hill each of the last 10 years with mixed results. Since a solo third in 2009, Z.J. has only managed one top-30 over the last four years: a T11 from 2012. However, Johnson has been pretty solid this year with three top-10s and only one finish outside of the top 20 in five stroke play events.
Keegan Bradley [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #34
Bradley missed the cut in his Bay Hill debut in 2011, but placed T3 in his second go last year. This year he has recorded four top-20s in six stroke play events, but is still seeking his first top-10 finish.
Harris English [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #55
English has placed inside the top 20 in five of seven stroke play events he has played this year, but is coming off a T38 at Copperhead. English has played Bay Hill twice, missing the cut in 2012 and ending T57 last year.
