Expert Picks for Wells Fargo Championship
Ryan Moore [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #37
Moore needs to be in your thoughts any time the gift of length comes to the forefront, and that may be the case this week at Quail Hollow. He's played here several times with varied results and thus he makes the rankings, but we aren't in love.
Jones has played well at Quail Hollow in the past, but he has left us wanting more on several occasions this season. We hope he can use his comfort with this course to rebound but keep his value in perspective.
Martin Laird [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #104
Laird enjoyed a small break and returns to what may be his best season to date. He's been in the hunt for wins with regularity and that momentum has us listing Laird in the top 30. His lack of history at this course keeps him out of the top 20.
Marino owns performance on this track, he owns performance on this season, and he could be the perfect mix of history, performance, and rising stock to earn a late spot on the roster. He fails to rank against this field, but he's heading in that direction.
David Toms [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #149
Toms has the history to match almost any other golfer in this field, but his recent work leaves the window of criticism open. He has struggled to keep it consistent this season and thus we want to keep expectations in check for this week.
Bo Van Pelt [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #106
Van Pelt may be our favorite gamble of the week. He's left us wanting more this season, but his recent finishes have been on the uptake and his history at Quail Hollow isn't too shabby. We want him on the radar and may value him more than others.
