Golf Rankings for The Barclays
Rory McIlroy [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #3
McIlroy has won his last three tournaments, including two majors, so I guess you could say things are going well for the 25-year-old. Ridgewood last hosted the Barclays in 2010 when he finished T56. However, McIlroy is flying in a totally different stratosphere right now.
Adam Scott [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #7
Scott is the defending Barclays champ, although that came at a different venue. At Ridgewood, Scott missed the cut back in 2008 but placed T9 in 2010. Over his last six starts of the season, Scott owns three top-fives and hasn't finished outside of the top 15 during that span.
Rickie Fowler [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #5
Fowler played Ridgewood in 2010 and was headed for a top-15 until struggling in the final round and finishing T36. Over the last month, Fowler has been a house of fire with a trio of top-three finishes and four consecutive finishes of eighth or better.
Phil Mickelson [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #18
Mickelson placed T19 at Ridgewood back in 2008 but missed the cut in 2010. Since emerging from a rough path earlier in the season, Phil has recorded three consecutive finishes inside the top 25, highlighted by a runner-up performance at the PGA.
Sergio Garcia [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #12
Garcia was the runner-up in three of four tournaments before his T35 at the PGA. Sergio won this event in 2001 and 2004 when it was the Buick Classic, but also owns a playoff loss at Ridgewood in 2008.
Justin Rose [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #10
Rose finished a career-best T2 last year at the Barclays and owns a T15 at Ridgewood from 2010. Since his T12 at the U.S. Open, Rose won at Congressional and two weeks later on the European Tour He also scored top-25s at the British Open and the PGA, with a T4 at Firestone in between.
Jim Furyk [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #27
Over his last five starts of the season, Furyk has three top-fives with five top-15s. He played Ridgewood in 2008 and placed T12.
Matt Kuchar [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #20
Kuchar missed the cut at Ridgewood in 2008 but came back to win the 2010 event in a playoff. He hasn't stood out in the last two majors but Kuchar has finished T4 at the Canadian Open and T12 at Firestone in his last two appearances.
Jason Day [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #1
If healthy, Day is almost ways a threat. He finished T5 at Ridgewood back in 2010 and is coming off a T15 at the PGA. There's too many recent ailments to build a lineup around, but Day is worth a reserve spot in the event he's physically right this week.
Henrik Stenson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #6
Stenson is playing Ridgewood for the first time in his career and was erratic over the last two years at the Barclays. In his last two starts of the season, Stenson has placed T19 at Firestone and T3 at the PGA.
Brandt Snedeker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #17
Snedeker is coming off a season-high T5 last week at Sedgefield and owns three consecutive finishes of 13th or better. He played Ridgewood both times it hosted this tournament with very poor results, missing the cut in 2010 and a T68 in 2008.
Bubba Watson [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #4
Watson played Ridgewood in 2008 and finished T12 but only managed a T31 in the 2010 return. Bubba has finished T37 and T64 since missing the cut at the British Open.
