My Top 30 Fantasy Golf picks for the Open Championship

This Week's Picks

Values [Two of my top-10 picks that are outside of the top-10 in DK salary]

Bubba Watson $9,100 [My rank 4th, DK salary T16th]

Watson missed the cut in his first two Open Championship starts, but has under-performed over the last three years (placing T30, T23, and T32). Bubba was T10 after three rounds in 2012 and T11 after two rounds last year. Watson already owns two wins and five top-three finishes this season.

Jordan Spieth $9,500 [My rank 9th, DK salary 12th]

Spieth was tied for 11th midway through last year's Open Championship debut, but finished outside of the top 40. Starting with his share of second at Augusta, Spieth has made nine consecutive cuts with only one result coming outside of the top 20.

Steals [Two of my top-30 picks that are outside of the top-30 in DK salary]

Angel Cabrera $7,600 [My rank 19th, DK salary T35th]

Cabrera finished T11 in last year's Open Championship (his best result in the event since finishing solo seventh at Royal Liverpool back in 2006). In between, Cabrera missed four cuts in six chances. He's coming off a victory at the Greenbrier Classic to give him three consecutive inside the top 25.

Brendon Todd $7,400 [My rank 26th, DK salary T38th]

Todd is playing the Open Championship for the first time in his career, but it is hard to ignore what he has been doing lately. Including a victory at the Byron Nelson, he has recorded three top-fives and has yet to place outside of the top 20 in six starts.

Overpriced [Two picks outside of my top-15 that are inside the top-15 in DK salary]

Matt Kuchar $10,000 [My rank 17th, DK salary 8th]

After years of struggling at the Open Championship, Kuchar has finished T15 and T9 the last two seasons. He has only missed one cut since late February and is coming off his first result outside of the top 20 since March.

Jim Furyk $9,300 [My rank 28th, DK salary 14th]

Furyk matched a career-best fourth at the 2006 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. However, over the last five years he failed to record a top-30 in the event. Furyk owns just one finish outside of the top 20 in his last nine starts.

Brendon Todd $7,400

M. Angel Jimenez $7,200

Jordan Spieth $9,500

Rickie Fowler $9,200

Bubba Watson $9,100

Angel Cabrera $7,600

Brendon Todd $7,400

M. Angel Jimenez $7,200

Rickie Fowler $9,200

Bubba Watson $9,100

Lee Westwood $9,000

Luke Donald $9,000

Angel Cabrera $7,600

Charley Hoffman $6,000

I love the price tag on Bubba this week so I'm all in. He's also be much better than advertised in recent years at the Open Championship. Cabrera is another guy I can't pass up on given his cost. Unlike most weeks I'm not digging for a deep basement player, except Hoffman. He hasn't played this event since missing cuts in 2009 and 2011, but is a perfect 19-for-19 this season.

Despite having four players finish 13th or better in the Studs and Scrubs group I finished just outside the money because of two missed cuts. The Balanced gang had three place 13th or better, but also had a pair of missed cuts.

My investment in Spieth was not misplaced but BH3 missing the cut really torpedoed my chances.
