Ezekiel Elliott NE RB
Ezekiel Elliott: Meeting with Dallas
15h agoElliott's agent will meet with the Cowboys in Dallas on Wednesday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.
The two sides have been connected throughout the offseason, as Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reported last month that Elliott and the Cowboys had mutual interest in a reunion. The Cowboys lost Tony Pollard to the Titans in free agency and only added end-of-roster types Royce Freeman and Snoop Conner to a running back room that includes Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn and Malik Davis. Elliott played in all 17 games for the Patriots last season, carrying 184 times for 642 yards and three touchdowns while adding a 51-313-2 receiving line on 65 targets.

Trey Hendrickson CIN DE
Bengals' Trey Hendrickson: Seeking trade
16h agoHendrickson recently requested to be traded from Cincinnati, a league source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Per Schefter, Hendrickson -- who is under contract for $15 million in 2024 and is on the books through 2025 -- is looking for more long-term security than the Bengals have been willing to offer to this point. The 29-year-old is coming of a 2023 campaign in which he recorded 43 tackles and made a major impact as a pass rusher by racking up a career-high 17.5 sacks over 17 games.

Micah Parsons DAL LB
Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Contract option picked up
18h agoThe Cowboys have picked up Parsons' fifth-year contract option, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The move keeps the 2021 first-rounder -- who played the majority of his snaps at defensive end in 2023 -- under contract with Dallas through the 2025 campaign. Per Gehlken, the star defender's salary in his fifth NFL season will be $21.32 million. The 24-year-old is coming off another productive effort with the Cowboys, in which he racked up 64 tackles and a career high 14 sacks in 17 regular-season outings.

James Hurst NO OG
James Hurst: Announces retirement
18h agoHurst announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons on Wednesday, Katherine Teller of ESPN reports.
Hurst has started 51 games between guard and tackle for the Saints since joining the team as a free agent after the 2020 season. He began his career as an UDFA with Baltimore. Hurst's official retirement just one day prior to the start of the 2024 NFL Draft leaves the team with a glaring need at left guard, though the team did reportedly have advanced warning of the decision. With former left tackle/guard Andrus Peat still a free agent, O-line could be a target with pick No. 14 overall.

Penei Sewell DET OT
Lions' Penei Sewell: Inks massive extension
20h agoSewell and the Lions agreed to terms Wednesday on a four-year, $112 million contract extension, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Sewell's deal, which reportedly includes $85 million guaranteed, makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL. The 23-year-old right tackle has played at a high level since joining Detroit as the No. 7 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he took a step forward in 2023 while earning first-team All-Pro honors. In addition to Sewell, the Lions extended top wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown to a four-year extension Wednesday, one day in advance of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Rashod Bateman BAL WR
Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Inks extension with Baltimore
20h agoBateman signed a two-year contract extension Wednesday.
Bateman was already under contract through the upcoming season in the final year of his rookie deal, but the Ravens had until May 2 to decide whether to exercise the receiver's $14.44 million team option for 2025. By reaching an extension with Bateman, the Ravens will no longer have to decide on whether to exercise or decline the option, as he's now on the team's books through 2026. The 24-year-old appeared in 16 of the Ravens' 17 regular-season games this past season, catching 32 of 56 targets for 367 yards and one touchdown. Despite Bateman's underwhelming production during his third NFL season, head coach John Harbaugh noted earlier in the offseason that he views the wideout as a candidate to "take a big step" forward in 2024, per Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site. The Ravens' pass-catching corps should look mostly similar in 2024 as it did in 2023, as No. 1 wideout Zay Flowers is entering his second season and standout tight end Mark Andrews is back in the fold, though Odell Beckham is currently a free agent and may not be brought back.

Yandy Diaz TB 1B
Rays' Yandy Diaz: Performance turning around
6m agoDiaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday against the Tigers.
Diaz got off to a slow start to the season, but he now has at least one hit in seven of his last eight starts. In that span, he also has four multi-hit performances and a .314 batting average. Counting stats haven't followed Diaz's turnaround at the plate, but as the locked-in leadoff hitter, that should also change as the season progresses.

Alek Manoah TOR SP
Blue Jays' Alek Manoah: Scuffles in latest rehab start
7m agoManoah (shoulder) yielded six runs on seven hits and four walks over three innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Manoah had seemed to make some strides in his previous two rehab outings, but he took a big step backward Wednesday. The right-hander's velocity was down 0.8 mph on both his sinker and four-seamer and down 1.4 mph on his slider, which was his most-used pitch in the start. Manoah walked four of the 19 batters he faced and surrendered a pair of home runs. The Blue Jays had seemed optimistic that Manoah would be ready to rejoin their rotation for his next start, but they might reconsider following the righty's struggles Wednesday. Manoah has been out all season with right shoulder inflammation.
-
Craig Kimbrel BAL RP
Orioles' Craig Kimbrel: Notches seventh save
14m agoKimbrel picked up the save against the Angels on Wednesday, allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk over one inning while striking out one.
Kimbrel surrendered a leadoff single to Ehire Adrianza to open the bottom of the ninth, who then advanced to third on a throwing error by Jorge Mateo. This would lead to a run coming home for Los Angeles in the frame on a groundout to make it a 6-5 game, though Kimbrel was able to retire two of the next three batters to nail down his seventh save of the season. The veteran reliever has now converted each of his last seven save attempts after blowing the save to open the campaign, but he's also allowed a hit and a walk in each of his last two appearances.
-
Jason Adam TB RP
Rays' Jason Adam: Works two frames for hold
15m agoAdam struck out two across two scoreless innings without allowing a baserunner to earn a hold Wednesday against the Tigers.
Adam was the presumed closer with Pete Fairbanks (arm) sidelined, but he instead was used in the highest-leverage spot. He entered the game in the seventh inning to face the top of the Tigers' order and protect a two-run lead. Adam was very effective and picked up his seventh hold of the campaign, but Garrett Cleavinger was ultimately the reliever to pick up the save.
-
Joseph Ortiz MIL 3B
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Not in Thursday's lineup
17m agoOrtiz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh.
He started the last four games at third base but will give way to Oliver Dunn for Thursday's tilt. Ortiz has been struggling at the plate lately, going 1-for-13 across his last seven contests, though he does have a 3:3 K:BB over that span.
-
Jack Flaherty DET SP
Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Six Ks in no-decision
20m agoFlaherty came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Rays, giving up four runs on seven hits over five innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.
The veteran righty stumbled early, giving up a solo shot to Randy Arozarena in the first inning and three more runs in the second, but he settled down after that and the Tigers took him off the hook for a loss in the top of the sixth. Flaherty generated 30 called or swinging strikes among his 97 pitches, but he's having difficulty keeping the ball in the park -- he's served up a homer in all five of his starts, fueling a 4.91 ERA that isn't in sync with his 1.16 WHIP or 36:4 K:BB through 29.1 innings. He lines up for a potential revenge game in his next trip to the mound, a home matchup early next week against the Cardinals.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OKC SG
Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Goes for 33 points in Game 2 win
1h agoGilgeous-Alexander had 33 points (13-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, five assists and two steals across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 124-92 victory over the Pelicans in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
The Thunder secured a statement win in Game 2 of the series, and Gilgeous-Alexander was absolutely dominant en route to his first 30-point effort since April 9, when he exploded for 40 points in a win over the Kings. Gilgeous-Alexander should lead the Thunder in Game 3 on Saturday, and he's having an excellent series so far, shooting 55.8 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from deep in the first two games against New Orleans.
-
Luguentz Dort OKC SF
Thunder's Luguentz Dort: Drains four threes Wednesday
1h agoDort racked up 15 points (4-8 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 124-92 win over the Pelicans in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren carried the Thunder to a blowout win in Game 2 of the series, but Dort made his presence felt Wednesday and was an absolute menace from beyond the arc. Dort should remain a capable contributor as the series heads to New Orleans for Game 3 on Saturday.
-
Chet Holmgren OKC C
Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Goes for 26 points Wednesday
1h agoHolmgren chipped in 26 points (9-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and two blocks across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 124-92 win over the Pelicans in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Holmgren was expected to have a tough matchup while being guarded by Jonas Valanciunas, but the rookie has looked outstanding in his first two playoff contests, posting a double-double in Game 1 and delivering his best scoring output in more than a month in the second game of the series. Holmgren should continue to have a prominent role for the Thunder ahead of Game 3 on Saturday at Smoothie King Center.
-
Jonas Valanciunas NO C
Pelicans' Jonas Valanciunas: Productive in Game 2 defeat
1h agoValanciunas closed Wednesday's 124-92 loss to the Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals with 19 points (8-14 FG, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes.
Valanciunas has been doing everything he can to slow Chet Holmgren down, and while that has proven to be a daunting task for the veteran, at least he's finding rhythm on the offensive end of the court. Valanciunas has now scored 13 or more points in his last three playoff appearances, and he should continue to experience an uptick in his usage rate with Zion Williamson (hamstring) still sidelined for Game 3 on Saturday.
-
Herbert Jones NO SG
Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Efficient despite loss in Game 2
1h agoJones chipped in 18 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one assist over 36 minutes during Wednesday's 124-92 loss to the Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Jones posted his best performance of the current playoff run, including the Play-In Tournament, but his efforts were not enough as the Pelicans suffered a blowout 32-point loss to fall into a 0-2 deficit in the first-round series. Jones has scored in double digits in just four of his 12 appearances this month, and this 18-point output was his joint-best scoring mark since posting a 19-point effort on Feb. 23, so he's not expected to carry the Pelicans on offense in Game 3 of the series Saturday.
-
Brandon Ingram NO SF
Pelicans' Brandon Ingram: Fills stat sheet in Game 2 loss
2h agoIngram produced 18 points (5-10 FG, 8-8 FT), four rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 124-92 loss to the Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Ingram wasn't as dominant as he looked in the Play-In victory over the Kings, but he posted a better stat line than the one of the series opener while also embracing a higher usage rate with Zion Williamson (hamstring) sidelined. Ingram has surpassed the 15-point mark in just two of his five appearances since returning to action on the last day of the regular season, and the Pels need him to be at his best for Game 3 of the series against Oklahoma City on Saturday.
-
Jesper Fast CAR RW
Hurricanes' Jesper Fast: Not playing Thursday
6m agoFast (upper body) will remain out of the lineup for Game 3 versus the Islanders on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Fast will miss his third straight game, after he was injured in the regular-season finale in Columbus. The 32-year-old had six goals and 19 points in 73 appearances this season. His status for Saturday's Game 4 is still up in the air.
-
Sam Carrick EDM C
Oilers' Sam Carrick: Adds helper in overtime loss
8h agoCarrick recorded an assist and five hits in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings in Game 2.
Carrick set up the first of Dylan Holloway's two goals in the game. The 32-year-old Carrick remains in a fourth-line role, though he could be replaced by Sam Gagner or Derek Ryan if the Oilers opt to mix things up. Carrick had 16 points, 92 shots on net, 167 hits and 102 PIM over 77 regular-season appearances between the Oilers and the Ducks.
-
Warren Foegele EDM LW
Oilers' Warren Foegele: Records helper
8h agoFoegele notched an assist, two shots on goal, four hits and a minus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings in Game 2.
Foegele has a goal and an assist through the first two games of the playoffs. He helped out on a Brett Kulak tally in the first period of this contest. Foegele has added seven shots on net, six hits and a minus-2 rating. The 28-year-old winger will have upside in DFS as long as he remains alongside Leon Draisaitl on the second line.
-
Connor McDavid EDM C
Oilers' Connor McDavid: Picks up power-play assist
8h agoMcDavid recorded a power-play assist, three hits and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings in Game 2.
McDavid didn't have much of an encore after a five-assist performance in Game 1. He was limited to a secondary helper on Zach Hyman's tally midway through the second period, as the Kings' defense did a better job of limiting his chances. The 27-year-old has four shots on net and six hits over two playoff contests, and he should continue to put pressure on the Kings even if it only leads to chances for his teammates.
-
Mattias Janmark EDM C
Oilers' Mattias Janmark: Contributes pair of assists
8h agoJanmark logged two assists, five hits and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings in Game 2.
Janmark helped out on both of Dylan Holloway's tallies in the game. Playing in a fourth-line role, Janmark shouldn't be expected to put up much offense in the postseason. He had just 12 points with 67 shots on net, 54 hits and 46 PIM over 71 regular-season appearances in a similar assignment.
-
Leon Draisaitl EDM C
Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Two more points in loss
8h agoDraisaitl logged two assists (one on the power play), eight shots on net and two hits in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings in Game 2.
Draisaitl set up goals by Brett Kulak and Zach Hyman in the contest. Three of Draisaitl's four points over two playoff games have come on the power play. He's added 11 shots on net, three blocked shots and a minus-1 rating. Draisaitl continues to center the second line, but the 28-year-old could move to play alongside Connor McDavid if the Kings are able to win Friday's Game 3, as the Oilers often put their best players together when playing from behind.
