Golf Rankings for The Honda Classic
John Rollins [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #135
After three top-10s in his first four starts, Rollins missed his first cut of the season at the Northern Trust Open. He withdrew from this event last year and missed the cut in 2010, but was the Honda runner-up in 2009.
Fredrik Jacobson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #91
After missing three months with torn ligaments in his left thumb, Jacobson finished T13 in his return to action at the Northern Trust Open. Last year was something of a breakout season for Jacobson, winning his first Tour event and finishing first in scoring average. The Swede has finished sixth or better in two of his last three Honda starts.
Padraig Harrington [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #83
Harrington won this event in 2005, prior to the move to the Champion Course, and the first of three straight top-20s which included one on the current site. The Irishman began his 2012 season with two top-10 finishes in three stroke play events. After ending last year with some pretty respectable finishes, Harrington has the momentum to collect another solid result.
Graeme McDowell [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #35
A year ago at the Honda, McDowell scored a T6 thanks to a Sunday best round of 64. He began his 2012 season with a T3 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, a European Tour event. Last year McDowell reeled off with four straight top-10s in worldwide events until struggling for much of the remainder.
Mark Wilson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #117
After winning the Honda in 2007, Wilson missed the next two cuts and finished 72nd in 2010 before skipping this event last year. While he’s missed two cuts already this year, Wilson has also won an event and is coming off a third-place result in match play.
Camilo Villegas [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #150
So which Villegas do you believe in? There’s the one that was victorious at the Honda in 2010 and earned a share of second in 2007. There’s also the Villegas that missed the cut here in both 2009 and 2011. Villegas opened 2012 with a T19 and a T22, but has struggled in his last two starts.
Charlie Wi [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #110
Wi opened 2012 with a T54 and two missed cuts until a runner-up finish at Pebble and a T34 the following week. He missed the cut at the Honda last year but had a pair of top-10s prior to that and three top-15s in a span of four starts.
Rory Sabbatini [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #131
After finishing T9 at the Honda back in 2004 on the Sunrise Course, Sabbatini skipped this event until last year and recorded a win on the Champion Course). Even though he’s missed his last three cuts of the year, the South African notched three straight top-30 results, including two top-15s.
Louis Oosthuizen [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #26
Oosthuizen withdrew from the final round of the Honda last year after struggling with an illness. In his last 10 worldwide starts, the South African owns eight top-10s and did not miss a cut. On the European Tour, Oosthuizen is currently fourth in scoring average.
Jimmy Walker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #12
In six career starts at the Honda, Walker has missed two cuts and has yet to record a top-30 finish. However, Walker has raked in three top-10s over his last four starts this season and is playing well enough to turn his history around.
Marc Leishman [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #56
Leishman has finished T17 in each of the last two Honda events. Ironically enough, he’s coming off a T17 at the Northern Trust Open giving him two straight top-20s.
Spencer Levin [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #169
Last year’s T14 at the Honda marked a career-best finish at the site for Levin. He’s made all seven of his cuts this season with one top-five and two top-10s. Levin ranks 19th in scoring average.
