Ezekiel Elliott NE RB
Ezekiel Elliott: Meeting with Dallas Wednesday
30m agoElliott's agent is meeting with the Cowboys in Dallas on Wednesday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.
This isn't the first time the two sides have been connected this offseason, as ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported last month that there was mutual interest in a reunion. The Cowboys lost Tony Pollard to the Titans in free agency and only added end-of-roster types Royce Freeman and Snoop Conner to a depth chart that includes Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn and Malik Davis. Elliott played in all 17 games for the Patriots last season, turning in a 184-642-3 rushing line while adding 51-313-2 as a receiver on 65 targets. Dallas will likely draft a running back this week.

Trey Hendrickson CIN DE
Bengals' Trey Hendrickson: Reportedly seeking trade
2h agoHendrickson has requested that the Bengals trade him, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Per Schefter, Hendrickson -- who is in line to make $15 million this coming season -- is looking for more long-term security than the team has been willing to offer to this point. The 29-year-old is coming of a 2023 campaign in which he recorded 43 tackles and made a major impact as a pass rusher by racking up a career-high 17.5 sacks in 17 regular-season games.
-
Micah Parsons DAL LB
Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Contract option picked up
3h agoThe Cowboys have picked up Parsons' fifth-year contract option, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The move keeps the 2021 first-rounder -- who played the majority of his snaps at defensive end in 2023 -- under contract with Dallas through the 2025 campaign. Per Gehlken, the star defender's salary in his fifth NFL season will be $21.32 million. The 24-year-old is coming off another productive effort with the Cowboys, in which he racked up 64 tackles and a career high 14 sacks in 17 regular-season outings.

James Hurst NO OG
James Hurst: Announces retirement
4h agoHurst announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons on Wednesday, Katherine Teller of ESPN reports.
Hurst has started 51 games between guard and tackle for the Saints since joining the team as a free agent after the 2020 season. He began his career as an UDFA with Baltimore. Hurst's official retirement just one day prior to the start of the 2024 NFL Draft leaves the team with a glaring need at left guard, though the team did reportedly have advanced warning of the decision. With former left tackle/guard Andrus Peat still a free agent, O-line could be a target with pick No. 14 overall.

Penei Sewell DET OT
Lions' Penei Sewell: Inks massive extension
5h agoSewell and the Lions agreed to terms Wednesday on a four-year, $112 million contract extension, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Sewell's deal, which reportedly includes $85 million guaranteed, makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL. The tackle has played at a high level since joining Detroit as the No. 7 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he took a step forward in 2023 while earning first-team All-Pro honors. In addition to the elite RT, the Lions extended top wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown to a four-year extension Wednesday, both one day in advance of the 2024 NFL Draft kicking off.

Rashod Bateman BAL WR
Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Inks extension with Baltimore
6h agoBateman signed a two-year contract extension Wednesday.
Bateman was already under contract through the upcoming season in the final year of his rookie deal, but the Ravens had until May 2 to decide whether to exercise the receiver's $14.44 million team option for 2025. By reaching an extension with Bateman, the Ravens will no longer have to decide on whether to exercise or decline the option, as he's now on the team's books through 2026. The 24-year-old appeared in 16 of the Ravens' 17 regular-season games this past season, catching 32 of 56 targets for 367 yards and one touchdown. Despite Bateman's underwhelming production during his third NFL season, head coach John Harbaugh noted earlier in the offseason that he views the wideout as a candidate to "take a big step" forward in 2024, per Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site. The Ravens' pass-catching corps should look mostly similar in 2024 as it did in 2023, as No. 1 wideout Zay Flowers is entering his second season and standout tight end Mark Andrews is back in the fold, though Odell Beckham is currently a free agent and may not be brought back.

Jhoan Duran MIN RP
Twins' Jhoan Duran: Another rehab outing on tap
19m agoDuran (oblique) is scheduled for a second rehab appearance with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
According to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com, the right-hander averaged 98.1 mph with his fastball -- down a couple ticks from the usual triple digits -- and surrendered two runs on four hits over one inning during Tuesday's rehab outing, but he felt fine physically during and after the appearance. Duran said he dealt with some mechanical issues during spring training that affected his velocity, and it's possible those problems flared up again. It's unclear how many rehab outings the Twins are looking for, but the 26-year-old could return within the next week if he continues to progress with no issues.

Lars Nootbaar STL LF
Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Two-run double in win
24m agoNootbaar went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Nootbaar doubled in his final at-bat of the contest to send home Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, giving the Cardinals a 4-1 lead. It was only the left fielder's fourth multi-base hit of the season, though he's now driven in two runs in two of his last three games. Nootbaar has also hit safely in six of his last seven contests, but is still yet to put together a multi-hit performance.

J.P. Crawford SEA SS
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Scratched Wednesday
25m agoCrawford was scratched from the Mariners' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Rangers due to right oblique soreness.
The severity of Crawford's injury remains unknown, but it's apparently enough to keep him from starting in Wednesday's contest. Dylan Moore will enter the lineup as Seattle's new shortstop and bat eighth.
-
Kyle Gibson STL SP
Cardinals' Kyle Gibson: Sharp after rough start
25m agoGibson (2-2) earned the win against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out six.
Gibson got off to a rocky start, allowing back-to-back hits while also hitting Joc Pederson with a pitch to open the game. However, the right-hander managed to escape the inning with only one run coming across before shutting out the Diamondbacks over the next five frames. Gibson has now gone at least six innings in each of his first five starts to open the season, posting a 20:12 K:BB over that stretch. He's also gone two starts without allowing a home run after allowing at least one long ball in each of his first three outings.
-
Jordan Montgomery ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Jordan Montgomery: Hit with tough loss
27m agoMontgomery (1-1) took the loss against the Cardinals on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out four over seven innings.
Montgomery kept the Cardinals' lineup at bay for most of the contest despite allowing the leadoff man to reach base in three of his first four innings of work. St. Louis would finally get to him in the sixth, however, after the lefty allowed back-to-back hits with one out, followed by an unearned run on a wild pitch. Montgomery actually pitched well on the afternoon despite being tagged with the loss, throwing 20 of his first 28 pitches for strikes while going at least six innings for the second consecutive start to begin his 2024 campaign. He also carries a solid 7:1 K:BB through two starts.
-
A.J. Puk MIA SP
Marlins' A.J. Puk: Returning to bullpen once healthy
34m agoManager Skip Schumaker said Wednesday that Puk (shoulder) will pitch out of the bullpen upon his return from the 15-day injured list, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Miami's rotation recently got back Edward Cabrera and could soon add Braxton Garrett (shoulder), so Puk will shift back to a relief role once he's recovered from the shoulder fatigue. The left-hander went 0-4 with a 9.22 ERA and 12:17 K:BB over 13.2 frames in four starts, so the move isn't a major surprise. Puk primarily worked as the Marlins' closer last season and had 15 saves with a 3.97 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 78:13 K:BB across 56.2 innings, but he'll likely need to be eased back into a high-leverage role after his disastrous run in the rotation.
-
Dean Wade CLE PF
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Missing First Round series
3m agoWade (knee) is out indefinitely and won't play in the remainder of the Cavaliers First Round series against the Magic, the team announced Wednesday.
Wade hasn't taken the floor since March 8 due to a right knee sprain and will be sidelined for the remainder of the series against Orlando. In the announcement, the Cavaliers said that a recent MRI revealed that Wade would need more time for recovery and is out indefinitely. Georges Niang and Isaac Okoro should continue to see plenty of action off the bench at the forward spots.
-
Nikola Jovic MIA PF
Heat's Nikola Jovic: Available for Game 2
1h agoJovic (back) is available for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Celtics.
Jovic was a late addition to the injury report due to a minor back issue, but as expected, he's been upgraded from probable to available. He posted 10 points, six rebounds and a block in 26 minutes during Sunday's 114-94 Game 1 loss.
-
Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Questionable for Thursday
2h agoRobinson (ankle) is questionable for Game 3 versus the 76ers on Thursday.
Robinson logged 30 minutes off the bench during New York's Game 1 win, but he was limited to just 18 minutes during Game 2, so perhaps his ankle was bothering him. We'll have a better idea of Robinson's playing status based on his activity level following Thursday's shootaround, but if he is forced to the sidelines, Precious Achiuwa and Jericho Sims would have the opportunity to get into the rotation.
-
Ty Jerome CLE SG
Cavaliers' Ty Jerome: Won't play Thursday
3h agoJerome (ankle) will remain on the sidelines for Game 3 versus the Magic on Thursday.
Jerome is still recovering from ankle surgery and hasn't played since Oct. 27. Even if he's cleared to suit up during the postseason, he's unlikely to crack the rotation.
-
Jalen Suggs ORL SG
Magic's Jalen Suggs: Good to go for Game 3
3h agoSuggs (knee) isn't listed on Orlando's injury report for Thursday's Game 3 against the Cavaliers.
Suggs suffered a left knee sprain during Monday's Game 2 loss, but he returned in the second half and said he was fine following the contest. He was also able to practice Wednesday. The defensive-minded guard has totaled 22 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block through the first two games of the opening-round series.
-
Craig Porter Jr. CLE PG
Cavaliers' Craig Porter: Won't play Thursday
3h agoPorter (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's Game 3 matchup with Orlando.
Porter has yet to play this postseason, but he's a negligible part of the rotation. His next chance to wear a uniform will come Saturday.
-
William Nylander TOR RW
Maple Leafs' William Nylander: Not playing Wednesday
1h agoNylander (undisclosed) is not on the ice for warmups, indicating he won't play in Game 3 versus the Bruins on Wednesday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
Nylander has been a game-time call throughout the playoffs, but he'll miss his third straight contest to open the first-round series. The 27-year-old's next chance to play is Saturday's Game 4 -- he may benefit from having an extra day to try to shake off the injury.
-
Max Jones ANA LW
Ducks' Max Jones: Recovers from shoulder injury
4h agoJones has been cleared from his sprain shoulder injury, the team announced Wednesday.
Jones missed the final 11 contests of the season because of the injury. He finished 2023-24 with five goals, 15 points, 33 PIM and 125 hits in 52 outings. The 26-year-old is set to become a restricted free agent this summer, and Jones figures to maintain his bottom-six role with the Ducks if they agree on a new contract.
-
Ivan Prosvetov COL G
Avalanche's Ivan Prosvetov: Heads to AHL
4h agoProsvetov was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Prosvetov had a 3.16 GAA and an .895 save percentage in 11 outings with the Avalanche during the regular season. He has also supplied a 2.33 GAA and a .921 save percentage across 21 minor-league contests.
-
Chris Wagner COL RW
Avalanche's Chris Wagner: Dropped to minors
4h agoWagner was sent down to AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Wagner passed through waivers Tuesday in order to make him available for the Eagles' playoff matchup with AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday. Even though Wagner was a healthy scratch for the Avs' first two postseason contests, Wagner will likely come back up to the NHL ahead of Game 3 versus Winnipeg on Friday.
-
Brad Hunt COL D
Avalanche's Brad Hunt: Sent down to minors
4h agoHunt was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Hunt hasn't played in either of the Avs' first two playoff games. With the Eagles kicking off the Calder Cup playoffs against AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday, the blueliner should be expected to link up with the minor-league club. Don't be surprised to see Hunt recalled to the Avalanche ahead of Friday's Game 3 clash with Winnipeg, though he figures to remain an emergency depth option.
-
Cam Talbot LA G
Kings' Cam Talbot: Set to start Wednesday
6h agoTalbot is expected to start on the road against Edmonton in Game 2 on Wednesday, per Tom Gazzola of Edmonton Sports Talk.
Talbot will seek revenge after allowing six goals on 44 shots en route to a 7-4 loss to the Oilers on Monday. He had a 27-20-6 record, 2.50 GAA and .913 save percentage in 54 regular-season appearances. Edmonton, which ranked fourth offensively with 3.56 goals per contest during the 2023-24 campaign, will continue to be a challenging opponent for the veteran goaltender.
