Golf Rankings for Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Ben Crane [Yahoo Class C]
After three top-10s in his first four starts of the season, Crane has just one top-20 in his last five starts -- the Masters. Crane finished T20 at TPC Louisiana last year after missing two straight cuts at the site. He sits 10th in birdie average, 14th in strokes gained – putting and 11th in All-Around Ranking.
Greg Chalmers [Yahoo Class C]
While not tearing up the leaderboard, Chalmers has been a solid player with four top-20s over his last eight stroke play events. The Australian looks like a great value at TPC Louisiana where he finished solo fifth in 2010 and T8 last year.
John Senden [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #106
In seven stroke play events Senden has collected two top-10s with four finishes inside the top 25. The Aussie ranks third in greens in regulation percentage, seventh in total driving, eighth in birdie average and 10th in All-Around Ranking. Since 2008 Senden has made all four cuts at TPC Louisiana with a pair of top-15s.
Nick Watney [Yahoo Class C]
After winning this event back in 2007, Watney has only managed one top-20 in his three starts at TPC Louisiana. While he’s made all his cuts this season, Watney owns four finishes of 40th or worse in eight stroke play events. Watney has taken several weeks off since a T32 at the Masters so hopefully the time off will reap some benefits.
Chris Stroud [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #174
With a T21 in 2010 and a T26 at TPC Louisiana last year, Stroud looks like a solid play. In his last five starts he’s scored a top-five, two top-10s and four finishes inside the top 25. Stroud places 15th in strokes gained – putting and 16th in scoring average.
Charley Hoffman [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #47
In his last two starts Hoffman has finished T8 at Harbour Town and a T13 last week at TPC San Antonio. At TPC Louisiana he’s made each of the last three cuts with one top-20.
Ernie Els [Yahoo Class C]
In the month of March Els collected two top-fives and finished no worse than 21st in four starts. However, Els missed the cut in his first start of April at Harbour Town. Els has never competed at TPC Louisiana, but is currently 16th in greens in regulation percentage and 18th in scoring average.
Bud Cauley [Yahoo Class C]
After John Huh, who recently withdrew from this event, finished T2 last week at TPC San Antonio the pressure is on Cauley to keep the rookie of the year race close. Cauley, a first timer in this event, ranks 22nd in scoring average and 28th in All-Around Ranking.
Harris English [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #57
In 11 starts this season English owns one top-10 and top-20s with two missed cuts. The rookie heads to TPC Louisiana for the first time sitting ninth in driving distance, 15th in birdie average, 19th in strokes gained – putting and 27th in All-Around Ranking.
David Toms [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #197
Since withdrawing from action at Doral with a back injury Toms hasn’t looked like the same player with one top-20, a missed cut and a T50 in three starts since. However, he’s taken some time off since the Masters and heads to a course where he finished T5 in 2009 and T18 last year.
Matt Every [Yahoo Class A]
Don’t look now but Every has four top-10s in 11 starts this season, including a share of second last week at TPC San Antonio. Every has missed five cuts in that span and did the same last year in this event so another boom or bust could be brewing.
Brian Davis [Yahoo Class C]
Following consecutive T4 finishes, Davis finished T13 at Harbour Town. Not bad for a player that missed three cuts and finished no better than 29th in seven prior starts. Davis finished T19 at this event in 2009, but outside of the top 50 the last two years.
