Golf Rankings for Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial
Louis Oosthuizen [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #13
After a solo third at Redstone, a runner-up performance at the Masters and a victory at the Maybank Malaysian Open, Oosthuizen has surprisingly missed two straight cuts. He's a first-timer at Colonial, so there's obviously plenty of concern over what he'll do this week.
Carl Pettersson [Yahoo Class C]
Since a runner-up performance at Redstone and a victory at Harbour Town, Pettersson has only added one top-10 in his last four starts (which came at THE PLAYERS) and missed two cuts. The Swede ranks 14th in scoring average and 12th in All-Around Ranking. Pettersson skipped this event last year and is without a top-20 in eight career starts at Colonial.
Ben Crane [Yahoo Class C]
In four starts since 2008, Crane has tallied a pair of top-fives at Colonial, but missed the cut last year. He’s also coming off a missed cut at THE PLAYERS, his third MC in the last six events. While Crane has been erratic, history suggests he’s very capable of a strong performance.
John Senden [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #104
Over the last three years, Senden has a pair of top-20s at Colonial and finished a career-best T8 in 2011. Senden has missed two of his last four cuts, but ranks ninth in total driving and 10th in All-Around Ranking.
Pat Perez [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #203
Since 2007, Perez has collected three top-10s in four starts at Colonial, but finished T62 last year. Over his last five starts of 2012, Perez missed two cuts but owns three top-25s and is coming off a season-high T9 at the Byron Nelson. Perez ranks 20th in total driving and 21st in All-Around Ranking.
Charlie Wi [Yahoo Class C]
Wi has been very solid at Colonial, with three top-15s over the last four years with a solo second last year. In his last three starts of 2012, Wi has one top-five and two top-25s. Back in February, Wi finished as the runner-up at Pebble Beach, so he’s capable for making a big run this week at one of his best tracks.
Geoff Ogilvy [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #199
Even though Ogilvy missed this event last year, he owns a T7 in 2008 and a T13 from 2010. This season, he’s finished inside of the top 30 in five of his last six starts. While Ogilvy may not challenge for a victory, he looks like a very safe option for a decent result.
Nick Watney [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #167
Following a solo eighth at Quail Hollow, there was hope Watney was starting to regain his form from a year ago. However, a T56 at THE PLAYERS quickly deflated any such hope and added to a growing list of disappointing finishes in 2012. In three career starts at Colonial, Watney has missed two cuts and finished T27 in 2010.
Jonas Blixt [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #127
Blixt is the latest rookie to post impressive results in 2012. Over his last three starts, Blixt has seen his finish improve from a T13 to a T9 to a T3 last week at the Byron.
Brian Davis [Yahoo Class C]
Last week’s T56 at the Byron was only Davis’ second finish outside of the top 15 over his last six outings. He’ll look to rebound at Colonial where he finished solo second in 2010 prior to missing the cut a year ago.
Ryan Palmer [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #73
While Palmer has only one top-15 in eight career starts at Colonial, he’s playing well right now. At Colonial he finished a season-high T4 and is coming off a T9 in the Byron after missing the cut at THE PLAYERS.
Jeff Overton [Yahoo Class C]
After a pretty solid month of March that featured a pair of top-fives, Overton has struggled over his last five starts with three missed cuts. Prior to last year’s T65 at Colonial, Overton finished T3 in 2010 and T13 in 2009.
