Golf Rankings for The Greenbrier Classic
Carl Pettersson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #179
Since finishing second and first in two consecutive starts, Pettersson has gone on to miss four cuts in his last seven events, including three of the last four. The Swede finished T18 at the Greenbrier a year ago after a T51 in the inaugural event. Pettersson sits ninth in strokes gained – putting, 18th in scoring average and 16th in All-Around Ranking.
Jimmy Walker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #13
Walker has played both editions of The Greenbrier Classic finishing T4 in each event. While he owns just two top-25 finishes in his last dozen starts, Walker has been considered a dark horse given his obvious comfort level at this track.
The rookie from South Korea is coming off an impressive month of June that featured three finishes inside the top 20. A week ago, Noh registered a career-best T4 at Congressional. He’s also made nine consecutive cuts and looks like a very safe pick.
John Huh [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #175
Huh is another impressive rookie worth a look. Over his last four events he’s finished inside the top 20 three times. Huh ranks 10th in driving accuracy percentage and 13th in All-Around Ranking.
Jeff Overton [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #190
In his last two starts, Overton finished T13 at the FedEx St. Jude Classic and T22 at last week’s AT&T National. Overton was the lone runner-up at the Greenbrier in 2010 prior to rebounding after a poor opening round to finish T49 last year.
Keegan Bradley [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #31
Bradley began the 2012 season with six top-15s and nine straight finishes inside the top 30 in stroke play events. However, he’s missed three cuts over his last seven starts and has finished no better than 24th. Bradley finished T43 at Greenbrier last year.
Brandt Snedeker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #61
A strained rib caused Snedeker to withdraw from the Memorial over a month ago. He finished T16 in the inaugural Greenbrier, but did not face the remodeled course last year. Snedeker is seeking his first top-15 finish in a stroke play event since winning at Torrey Pines in late January.
Brian Davis [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #166
In his last 11 starts, Davis has collected three top-fives with seven top-25s. He finished T18 at the Greenbrier a year ago.
J.B. Holmes [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #66
A disastrous third round cost Holmes a chance to collect his third top-20 finish in four starts. Holmes finished T16 at the Greenbrier in 2010, but missed the cut last year.
Charley Hoffman [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #74
Over his last four starts, Hoffman finished with a share of second at the Travelers Championship while scoring two other finishes inside the top-25. He ranks 14th in total driving and 28th in All-Around Ranking.
Andres Romero [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #154
After taking some time off following a share of second at the Memorial, Romero returned to action with a T34 last week at Congressional. In his first start at the Greenbrier, Romero finished T4 last year.
Marc Leishman [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #47
After winning the Travelers Championship, Leishman had a chance for another top-15 finish at Congressional until a 6-over 77 in the final around sent him tumbling to a T32. Leishman missed the cut at the Greenbrier last year after a T16 in 2010.
