Golf Rankings for World Golf Championships - Bridgestone Invitational
Bo Van Pelt [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #106
After a runner-up finish at Congressional, Van Pelt missed the cut in The Open Championship but quickly rebounded with a T7 in the RBC Canadian Open. BVP finished T23 a year ago at Firestone following a T3 in 2010. Van Pelt is ninth in birdie average, eighth in total driving, 15th in scoring average and fourth in All-Around Ranking.
Justin Rose [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #11
In his most recent start in The Open Championship, Rose missed his first cut of the season. Prior to that he put together three top-10s in five starts. After finishing T2 at Firestone in 2007, Rose has only one top-20 over the last four years. Rose is fourth in greens in regulation percentage, ninth in scoring average and fifth in All-Around Ranking.
Dustin Johnson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #13
Coming off a T9 in The Open Championship, Johnson heads to Firestone in search of his first career top-10 at the site. DJ ranks seventh in driving distance, 13th in scoring average and 25th in All-Around Ranking.
Jason Day [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #5
Over his last half dozen starts, Day has been an all-or-nothing player. While he’s scored three top-10s, he’s also missed two cuts. Day finished T4 at Firestone last year after a T22 in his debut at the site in 2010.
Phil Mickelson [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #8
Despite four top-five finishes, it hasn’t been a strong season for Mickelson. He’s missed two straight cuts and has just one top-20 in his last seven starts. Since 2004 Lefty has only scored one top-40 finish at Firestone, so there are plenty of reasons to pass over him this week.
Jim Furyk [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #21
It’s been a season of ups and downs for Furyk. Right now he’s down. Over his last four starts Furyk has missed two cuts and is without a top-30 finish. At Firestone he owns a single top-20 since 2008.
Graeme McDowell [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #14
Over his last two worldwide starts McDowell owns two top-fives -- the U.S. Open and British Open -- and four straight finishes inside the top 20. McDowell has made six starts at Firestone, but has never finished better than 22nd.
Ernie Els [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #41
After a solo ninth at the U.S. Open and a victory in The Open Championship, Els surprising missed the cut last week in the RBC Canadian Open. Since 2006 Els has finished no better than 22nd at Firestone.
Francesco Molinari [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #51
The younger Molinari brother has been tearing up the European Tour and done fairly well against PGA Tour competition this season. Last year he finished T15 at Firestone, his second career start at the site.
Peter Hanson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #73
Hanson has been a consistent performer for years on the European Tour. In 17 worldwide starts this season he’s managed five top-fives and eight finishes inside the top 25. Hanson has finished T21 and solo eighth the last two years at Firestone.
Louis Oosthuizen [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #38
Oosthuizen had his moments at The Open Championship, but ultimately finished T19. He finished T9 in his first Firestone in 2010 but dropped to T37 last year.
Brandt Snedeker [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #20
Snedeker hasn't done much in either of his two career Firestone starts, but has made all three cuts since missing a month of action. He finished T3 in The Open Championship prior to a letdown in last week’s RBC Canadian Open, T34.
