Golf Rankings for TOUR Championship
Bo Van Pelt [Yahoo Class C]
After finishing outside of the top 20 in the first two postseason tournaments, Van Pelt notched a T10 in the BMW. He’ll return to East Lake where he finished solo ninth a year ago. BVP sits second in total driving and fourth in All-Around Ranking.
Zach Johnson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #37
Johnson got off to a disastrous start in the postseason, but is coming off a T12 in the BMW. ZJ finished a career-best T2 at East Lake in 2007 and owns a T9 from 2010. Johnson is good for eighth in All-Around Ranking.
Steve Stricker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #103
Typically among the most consistent players on Tour, Stricker has only scored one top-20 in the three postseason tournaments. In addition, his performance at East Lake has been disappointing the last two years. Following a career-best solo sixth in 2009, Stricker has finished T25 and 15th.
Brandt Snedeker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #27
Following a solo second to kick off the FedExCup, Snedeker finished solo sixth at TPC Boston. However, he’s coming off a T37 in the BMW and only managed a midpack finish last year at East Lake. Snedeker will need to catch fire with his masterful putting abilities to contend this week.
Justin Rose [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #12
Rose is another player that has been stumbling through the playoffs. After capping the regular season with a pair of top-fives, he’s finished outside of the top 15 in all three FedExCup events. Over the last two years he’s finished T20 and T15 at East Lake.
Nick Watney [Yahoo Class C]
After winning the first FedExCup event, Watney has quickly fallen back off the radar with T20 and T45 finishes in the last two events. He’s made three career starts at East Lake, finishing T13 in 2009 and T4 in 2010, but dropped to T26 last year.
Webb Simpson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #56
Simpson has been a non-factor in two of three postseason events with just one top-20. Last year he slipped up at the FedExCup by finishing 22nd out of 30 players at East Lake. In seven starts since winning the U.S. Open, Simpson has only managed one top-10 finish while missing a pair of cuts.
Keegan Bradley [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #102
Bradley ended the regular season with a victory at Firestone and a T3 in the PGA Championship. Unfortunately, he’s stunk up the joint in two of the three playoff events. Bradley ranks first in All-Around Ranking and finished T11 at East Lake last year, but is playing too poorly right now to trust.
Ryan Moore [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #30
In his only appearance at East Lake, Moore finished T9 back in 2010. He could actually prove to be a sneaky play this week with T10 finishes in each of the last two FedExCup events.
Ernie Els [Yahoo Class C]
Since winning The Open Championship, Els has finished outside of the top 25 in six straight Tour starts. Els did not compete in this event last year, but has compiled five top-10s in six starts at the site since 2004.
Matt Kuchar [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #21
Since missing the cut in the PGA Championship, Kuchar has finished 35th or worse in three more events. Kuchar has also failed to impress at East Lake by finishing T20 and T25 the last two years.
Robert Garrigus [Yahoo Class B]
Garrigus has been hit or miss lately. He’s made seven straight cuts with three top-fives, but finished outside of the top 20 in the other four starts. Garrigus is a first timer at East Lake, so another boom or bust performance is to be expected.
