Expert Picks for The Masters
Justin Rose [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #7
Rose has been one of the best surprises of the early 2011 season, showcasing improved consistency and a persistent ability to compete for the win. He has shown well at Augusta in the past, but it's been some time since we've seen his best at the season's first major.
Martin Laird [Yahoo Class C]
Laird has become a regular on the rankings despite his lack of established dominance over time, but his work over the early weeks of the 2011 season has been so productive (including a victory just two short weeks ago) it seems foolish not to take his surprising finish at Augusta last year and read into it.
Jim Furyk [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #9
We shouldn't make it this deep into the rankings for any tourney and not have Furyk as an option, but he lacks the power and recent performance we've seen from those listed above. He may rank as the single best value wager of The Masters.
K.J. Choi [Yahoo Class C]
Like Furyk, it is probably wrong to have Choi this far down the list. He was as strong as any finisher on the leaderboard last season. We've seen just enough production from his bag this year to establish positive belief, but we've seen enough question to wonder if he has it in him to compete.
Angel Cabrera [Yahoo Class C]
Cabrera has a Green Jacket so freshly tailored you can still smell the azaleas on the lapel, but most would rate that performance as a flash. However, note Cabrera's positive work at Augusta last season and you have to get him on the radar.
Adam Scott [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #14
One more wager for the road brings Scott to the table before we exit stage left, touting a few positive finishes on Sunday leaderboards at Augusta. He has disappointed more often than not, but this particular course could be -- for those who enjoy a trip to Vegas -- a point of reckoning.
