Golf Rankings for The Greenbrier Classic
Peter Hanson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #73
Hanson recently finished T30 in the Nordea Masters, an event on the European Tour, and T35 at TPC Southwind prior to missing the cut at the U.S. Open. He’s playing Greenbrier for the first time and ranks seventh in strokes gained – putting.
Jimmy Walker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #13
Walker’s streak of consecutive cuts made was halted at 23 earlier this month at TPC Southwind. He returned to action last week at Congressional only to miss his second straight cut of the season, something he hasn’t done since 2011. Walker finished T9 and T32 in his first two Greenbrier starts, but missed last year’s cut.
Charlie Wi [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #110
Last week at Congressional saw Wi finish solo seventh, his first top-15 of the year. He only managed a T60 in the 2010 Greenbrier, but returned to the site last year to place T3. Wi is currently 15th in birdie average.
Ted Potter, Jr. [Yahoo Class B]
Potter is the defending championship at the Greenbrier and has made five of his last eight cuts, all resulting in finishes of 35th or better.
Jeff Overton [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #190
Overton has played the Greenbrier each of the last three years, highlighted by a runner-up performance in 2011. He returned the following year to place T49, but managed a T17 showing in 2012.
Morgan Hoffmann [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #148
Hoffman is on the radar thanks to top-10 performances at Cromwell and Congressional. He’s already missed eight cuts this season, but this recent surge could bode well for his Greenbrier debut.
